Barney Bentall's Grand Cariboo Opry
7 pm Friday November 11th, St Andrews Presbyterian Church Victoria, 680 Courtney St. 7 pm Saturday November 12th, Friendship Community Church, 7820 Central Saanich Rd. This is the fifth year for us to host the Grand Cariboo Opry, and this year we are hosting the Victoria show as well. This is a side project for Barney, for the sheer love of it, and the help he can give at Christmas to the food banks. Multi-Juno award winning Bentall needs no introduction to the Canadian rock scene, with hits such as Something To Live For, and Come Back To Me, among others, garnering international acclaim. With at least a dozen musicians on the tour, it makes for a memorable night. Backed by the Legendary Hearts, Barney will be joined onstage by son Dustin Bentall, Ridley Bent, Kendell Carson, & more of Canada's rising stars. Describing the Opry experience isn't easy, but for anyone who has attended, they all agree it's a blast. The premise is simple. Think Grand Ole Opry meets Prairie Home Companion, with the feel of an old time radio broadcast. We sell a song sponsorship to local businesses, and Barney writes a song intro for each song in the show. Sometimes they make sense, and sometimes it's a real stretch to get that name in, which adds to the fun. The music is brilliant, and the humour even better! For those of you new to the show, please don't wait - these tickets will go fast, snapped up by our diehard Opry fans who wait for this show each year. Sponsorship includes 2 complimentary show tickets for each $250.00 donated. So really it only costs you $186.00. But it gets even better! We have a matching grant that makes your contribution $500.00 to the food bank, who can then turn each dollar into $2.00. So - your $250.00 becomes $1,000.00 for the food banks.
